A result needs an identity and a limit

Useful Mode 06 evidence includes the monitor or test identity, component identity where defined, measured value, minimum or maximum limit, pass or fail state, and the conditions under which the monitor ran. Raw identifiers without a lawful definition should remain unknown.

Trend before replacement

A near-limit or failed result can justify a targeted test, especially when it repeats under comparable conditions or aligns with codes and live data. It still may reflect a system condition, wiring problem, mechanical cause, or sensor response rather than a single defective part.

Preserve what was unavailable

Some vehicles expose sparse generic Mode 06 data while enhanced tools can name more tests. The report should state whether a test was unsupported, undefined, not completed, or not requested instead of converting absence into a pass.
